The Accommodation at Strathcarron Station House

Once the bustling station building on the Inverness to Kyle railway line this historic symbol of the age of steam is now being reborn for the 21st century.

Our first luxury apartment 'Station Master' opened in June 2018 and the 'Ticket Office' opened in September 2019. See below for information on the  The Station Master's and Ticket Office.

The Station Master's

Ticket Office

Live in a piece of railway history in the Ticket Office, part of the renovated Strathcarron station building - with all the facilities you need for a luxury self-catering break in a beautiful area. Relax in the former ticket office and waiting room (now the sitting room) and watch the trains come and go right outside your window, then fall asleep in the luxurious surroundings of your tranquil bedroom.

The building has been sensitively renovated and its unique character restored.  Many original railway features have been retained including a pair of signal levers, the original railway safe and the ticket office window. The accommodation is as follows:

  • Brand new well-equipped kitchen/diner (formerly the Station Master’s office) with all new appliances and a dishwasher.

  • Dining table seating four with peaceful views to the surrounding mountains and the trains passing outside your window!

  • Cosy sitting room with electric stove, sofa and two armchairs, TV with Freeview as well as a CD player and board games. Please do be aware that the sofa and chairs are quite small. They are in keeping with the period “look” we have tried to create throughout the property, so if lounging on the sofa is an important part of your holiday you may prefer to book our Station Master’s apartment which has a large leather recliner and chair.

  • Two beautifully furnished bedrooms, one with double bed and one with two single beds.

  • Two shower rooms - one en-suite and one wet room, both with underfloor heating, electric showers and shaver points.  Owing to space limitations, we do not provide a bath.

  • Washing machine and tumble dryer.

  • Fully disabled-friendly with ramp to front door, wet room and easy access to twin bedroom.  All accommodation is on the ground floor with no steps or stairs.

  • Oil fired central heating throughout.

  • All electricity and heating oil are included in your rental cost so no hidden charges.

  • Free wi-fi. However, please note there is no fibre broadband in Strathcarron and we are a long way from the exchange so speed and reliability may not be what you are used to.

  • Sorry but children under 13 and pets are not permitted.

Signalman’s

Built in 2001 to house an IT centre, the modern extension sandwiched between the station building and the former Royal Mail sorting office has been converted into a modern, light, airy open-plan single bedroom apartment. Downstairs there is a kitchen, diner, sitting room and shower room/toilet, with the beautiful galleried pine staircase leading to a spacious double bedroom with views to the surrounding hills. Renovation work was completed in 2021 and the apartment is currently being let long-term.
